The article The Plague, Coronavirus, And Martin Luther-Why They All Matter was very interesting and enlightening on contrasting Martin Luthers viewpoint on dealing with the bubonic plague and the current corona virus. Luthers views on handling the epidemic were ahead of their time in contrast how others were fleeing. He was emphasizing the importance of prevention, even though at the time it was in vein. This can often be the case with new ideas or concepts, it can be hard for to get people to buy in and adopt these sometimes-foreign concepts. Its more amazing that what he was suggesting at the time is very similar to todays CDC guidelines for dealing with the Coronavirus which include, take medicine, disinfect your home, cleanliness, and social distancing. He also encouraged people to ensure their fellow man was taken care before leaving if one chose to leave instead of staying and providing aid. This seems like a logical view based in his position, but further makes a lot of sense. You see this situation today with our healthcare workers choosing to put their own life at risk in order to save other lifes. There is a stark contrast from current healthcare workers of today and the ones that were practicing medicine during the bubonic plague. In closing, Id say Martin Luthers ideas for dealing with the plague were correct and could be applied to many other similar pandemics resulting in positive outcomes.

I found the actions taken by Martin Luther not only brave but extremely selfless superhuman.During those times they lacked the medical advancement we have today.Once he was able to asses the situation and became aware of the risk he choose to send his family away in a effort to protect them. However instead of fleeing himself ,he chose to open his home and thus exposing himself to a possible horrible death which is to me mindblowing .He choose to care for thy neighbor .His selfless act then can be compared to those we see today from our numerous doctors and other essential workers.
I also find it interesting that the same guidelines suggested today held true back then.Protect yourself as much as you can by maintaining a safe distance whenever possible. Clean and disinfect your surroundings frequently. Essentially taking a proactive approach in protecting your loved ones and yourself whenever possible.
