All papers should be approximately 6 pages in length, typed (preferably in Word), double-spaced, with page numbers. You do not need to provide citations for the book you are reviewing, only if you are including some reference outside of the book being reviewed. If you do provide an outside source, use APA as the citation method.
The first two pages of the review should cover what the book was about. This is where you must learn to synthesize the important points of the book.
The second two pages of the review should be your critique of the book. This is really what you learned from the book, issues you had with the book, conflicts you saw within the book, etc. This section should be analysis not opinion.
The third two pages of the review should be your opinion of the author’s work, namely, what you think about the book.First person is fine here, with statements like “I think” or even “I believe” being acceptable (just avoid I feel). Also, I believe are those things that are your first principles, your beliefs that are usually immutable. This can influence how you think about things. What you think is what you know (facts) about the material and how you perceive it (opinions). This, of course, can be debated.Feelings are your emotional reactions to the material and do not belong in these papers.
