Nova Southeastern University Huntington Disease Case Study Presentation
Question Description
Here is a case study:
SP is a 38 year-old woman who is referred to a neurologist by her family practitioner for evaluation. SP states she has been struggling with depression, has difficulty “finding her words”, and often loses her “train of thought”. During an intake conversation SP mentions she has been having difficulty: organizing and prioritizing her workload, working her computer, and learning a new work process at work. In addition, SP has been having episodes of leg jerking. Other complaints include generalized fatigue and loss of energy, which she attributes to insomnia. The neurologist suspects SP has Huntington’s Disease (HD).
I need to find a peer-reviewed article less 5 years old and to answer these questions:
What education needs to be done with the family?
Who else besides the family might need education in the future? (this is for genetics class, so it must be focused on genetics)
